June 28, 2009: Gratitude and our Multiple Authenticities (Coaching teleclass)

We will have a guest leader for this teleclass. Please welcome Beth Gray, Positive Focus Life Coach, from Toronto! Her writeup for the class follows.

Gratitude. What is it? Does gratitude present itself in your life? How does it make you feel? We have all had moments, events and people in our lives for which we are grateful. Are these but passing moments? Can we grasp that feeling of gratitude and allow it to spill over into other areas of our authenticity? How does our "True Self" seek out gratitude? How does it show gratitude?

What are the benefits of gratitude? Can there be or is there any drawbacks to gratitude? Is there a time and place for gratitude? Can we allow it to bubble up spontaneously? If so, which authenticity does this represent to you?

There is a learned language of words and of actions around gratitude. We teach our children to say "Thank you," to reciprocate kind thought and action with a gift or card. Yet, we often hear about or indeed experience those that don't reciprocate. Usually we are referring to the simple things in life - holding the door open for someone behind you, cleaning up and leaving the space that we occupied ready for the next person, coming as a guest for dinner with a hostess gift, just to mention a few. Are we focusing on the positive when we feel "slighted" by the person that doesn't reciprocate? Are we living in expectation? Can we be in gratitude and expectation at the same time? How do we capture and truly pass on the feeling, the essence of being in gratitude.

Where does gratitude manifest for you, which authenticity? Is there one more than others? Do you ever feel uncomfortable receiving gratitude? Do you ever feel awkward giving gratitude?

Let us go through the door of gratitude and discover it's meaning, it's relevance to our lives, to the lives of those we love. Let us journey to a place that finds us in tune with how gratitude plays in our lives.
